“Nowadays I cannot tell the difference between the implants and my own teeth!”

Pauline is a very active retired lady. Over the years, many of her teeth had deteriorated to the point where her dentist informed her that nothing more could be done to save them. He advised that she could have the failing teeth extracted and replaced with dentures.

Pauline recalls, “I told my dentist that I didn’t fancy something that I would have to put in and take out every day.” Her dentist then recommended a consultation with Dr James Main to find out if she would be a good candidate for dental implants.

New implant teeth in one appointment

After the clinical examination, Pauline was provided with a fully-costed treatment plan. The plan included the placement of two implant-supported, three-tooth bridges and one implant-supported crown.

At the first treatment appointment, the failing teeth were extracted and five tooth implants were fitted on the same day. James placed temporary tooth-like crowns over the implants, so that Pauline was not left with any visible gaps during the healing process. Six months later, he replaced the temporary crowns with Pauline’s permanent ‘teeth’.

Life-changing benefits

After the clinical examination, Pauline was provided with a fully-costed treatment plan. The plan included the placement of two implant-supported, three-tooth bridges and one implant-supported crown.

More and more people with missing teeth are discovering the benefits of this life-changing treatment. Dental implants look, feel and function just like natural teeth and are easy to look after. Pauline comments, “I now can’t tell the difference between the implants and my own teeth. In fact, I pretty soon forgot I even had them, especially as my new teeth are no problem to care for.”

If properly looked after, dental implants can last a very long time, restoring both confidence and comfort for people who have suffered from uncomfortable dentures or embarrassing gaps. Pauline adds, “They were definitely worth having done. The prospect of the alternative, a denture, was horrible. I can now eat what I like without any discomfort.”
